Initial investigations suggest an electrical short circuit as the cause. Authorities are assisting affected shop owners and focusing on improving safety measures to prevent future incidents​

81 year old Thai man loses 22 million baht to police impersonator

An 81-year-old Thai man named Praisan lost his life savings of 22 million baht to a scammer impersonating a police officer, who accused him of involvement in illegal activities. Praisan, a former business planning leader at the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand, sought help from his son, a stock market worker in Singapore, who concluded that Praisan was a victim of a call center scam. The scammer, posing as an officer from Ayutthaya Provincial Police, convinced Praisan to transfer over 19 million baht for an investigation and later tricked him into pawning his house for an additional 3 million baht. The scam left Praisan distressed and seeking police assistance to recover his losses. His son called for stronger measures against such scams by the Bank of Thailand and relevant authorities
