Cave of Titans unearthed: Phayao locals make bone-chilling find

Locals in Phayao's Dok Kham Tai district discovered the "Cave of Titans," believed to have housed a titan couple, after finding a limestone rock filled with white bones, thought to be animal remains, inside. The cave, located 5 kilometers from the nearest village, is accessible through rice fields and forests. The cave's entrance features Buddha statues and a wooden bench, while the interior holds the bone-filled rock. Locals think the bones are over 1,000 years old and belong to animals consumed by the mythical titans.

Iranian tourist assault rocks Phuket’s famous party street

An Iranian tourist was brutally assaulted on Phuket's Bang La Road after an argument with a local escalated. The tourist, Korhanshirazi, suffered facial injuries but declined medical treatment to help police identify his attackers. The altercation involved four to five Thai men. Despite initial difficulties, police used CCTV footage to identify the suspects. This incident has raised concerns about safety on the popular tourist street and has prompted calls for better hospitality from locals to maintain Phuket's reputation as a premier tourist destination.

Malaysia AirAsia resumes direct flights to Pattaya

Malaysia AirAsia has resumed its direct flights between Kuala Lumpur and Pattaya, starting June 17, with three weekly flights every Monday, Friday, and Sunday. This route, part of AirAsia's ninth direct connection to Thailand, aims to boost tourism by enhancing accessibility to Pattaya, Thailand’s eighth-largest city. The airline, which carried over 60,000 passengers on this route in 2019, is promoting travel with special fares. SCAT Airlines operates new routes from Kazakhstan to U-Tapao

SCAT Airlines has launched new charter flights from Almaty, Kazakhstan to U-Tapao International Airport near Pattaya, Thailand, operating every seven to ten days using a Boeing 737 Max-9. This initiative is part of a broader effort by the Tourism Authority of Thailand to boost tourism and business travel by enhancing connectivity. The new routes are expected to significantly increase international tourist arrivals, particularly from Kazakhstan, which saw a 19.39% rise in visitors earlier this year. Tying the knot: Thailand Senate approves same-sex marriage bill

Chicago Museum to return 900-year-old artifact to Thailand

The Art Institute of Chicago is returning a 900-year-old artifact, a fragment of a 12th-century pilaster depicting the Hindu deity Krishna, to Thailand. Originally from the Phanom Rung Historical Park in Buriram, the piece was likely smuggled out in 1965 before being donated to the museum in 1966. The decision to repatriate the artifact followed research by the Office of National Museums and the efforts of Southeast Asian art expert Nicolas Revire. The artifact will soon be restored to its original site.

Limited-edition banknotes issued to celebrate king’s birthday

The Bank of Thailand has issued limited-edition 100-baht banknotes to commemorate King Vajiralongkorn's 72nd birthday. These special notes, featuring a unique portrait layout and printed on durable polymer, will be available from July 23 at commercial and state-run banks.
