Thailand ranks 6th best for expats

Thailand has been ranked the sixth-best country for expatriates by InterNations, maintaining its position from the previous year. The ranking is based on a survey of over 12,500 expats evaluating 53 countries on quality of life, ease of settling in, working abroad, personal finance, and essential services. Thailand's high scores were attributed to its quality of life, affordability, and the welcoming nature of locals. Panama, Mexico, and Indonesia topped the list, while Kuwait and Turkey were among the lowest-ranked.

Khanom Beach proposed as national park after 34 years

After 34 years of preparation, Khanom Beach and the Southern Islands in Nakhon Si Thammarat are proposed as a national park. The area, initially 197,614 rai, is now 108,570 rai due to overlapping claims. Efforts focus on conservation, local stakeholder engagement, and sustainable tourism. The park will protect vital ecosystems and wildlife, including pink dolphins and green turtles, and feature notable tourist spots like Plaichumron Viewpoint and Thong Ching Beach.

Man confesses to murder, car theft and gold robbery in Chiang Mai

Niphitphon Sombunsukying, a 27-year-old former student from a prestigious university, confessed to murdering a motorbike rider, stealing the victim's car, and committing a gold robbery in Chiang Mai. Driven by a desire to help his family pay off a 10 million baht debt from a pyramid scheme, he meticulously planned the crime for over a year. Police arrested him on July 8, recovering a 9mm handgun and part of the stolen gold valued over 3 million baht.

Thai woman attacked by homeless man near On Nut BTS Station

A homeless man near On Nut BTS Station in Bangkok attacked a Thai woman named Pimpisa. The man, who shouted at her before following and punching her in the face, ran away but was later apprehended by motorcycle taxi riders and tested positive for drugs. The incident, which left Pimpisa with a minor mouth injury, highlighted the issue of homelessness and drug use in the area. She called for sustainable solutions to address these problems.

New Thai Airways deal supercharges UK-Asia courier service

Thai Airways has signed a three-year agreement with CFL at Heathrow Airport to boost courier capacity between the UK and the Asia Pacific region. This partnership allows Thai Airways to offer a specialized courier service, enhancing export capabilities and providing UK businesses faster access to Asian markets. Thailand’s DDC issues health alert on rising eye infections due to contaminated tap water

The Department of Disease Control (DDC) in Thailand has issued a health alert due to an outbreak of conjunctivitis among 200 residents in a Bangkok condominium, linked to Acanthamoeba in the tap water. This parasite can cause serious eye infections, particularly in contact lens wearers. The DDC advises proper hand hygiene, avoiding eye rubbing, and using clean water to minimize infection risk.
